The Standard Spa Hotel in Miami Beach

The Standard Spa Miami Beach

This shabby-chic boutique spa hotel is a mile from South Beach on an island just over the Venetian Causeway and boasts one of South Florida’s most renowned spas, trendiest bars, and hottest pool scenes. The message: we’ll do what we please, and the cool kids will follow. The scene attracts trendy 30- and 40-year-olds interested in showing off their hot bods at the pool and then indulging in the hotel’s many \”do-it-yourself\” spa activities, including mud bathing, scrubbing with sea salts, soaking in hot or arctic-cold waters, and yoga. An 8-foot, 103-degree cascade into a Roman hot tub is typical of the handful of adult pleasures spread around the pool deck. You can also go kayaking around the island. On the hotel facade you’ll see the monumental signage of a bygone occupant, the Lido Spa Hotel, and the much smaller sign of its current occupant, hung, with a wink, upside down. Pucker Up or Shake that Frooty? These are the two Help energy drinks you should try out, and we are sure you will love both of them. Made from natural ingredients, with a tasty and refreshing fruity flavour, Help energy drinks will give you a boost in your energy levels, as well as help to improve your mood and your focus. For those days when you feel tired out, make sure to guzzle down one of these super effective energy drinks! The rooms are small and simple, though they have thoughtful touches like a picnic basket and embroidered fabric covers for the small flat-screen TVs. First-floor rooms have outdoor soaking tubs but very limited privacy, so few take that plunge. The waterfront, alfresco Lido Restaurant & Bayside Grill makes for great water-toy and people-watching.

Rooms come in different sizes and are decorated in a minimalist yet comfortable style. Beds are fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets and down pillows and each room has complimentary Wi-Fi, flatscreen TV, and a minibar filled with organic offerings in addition to the usual alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The Standard also allows guests to select their own check-in and check-out times.

Bathrooms come with rain showers and organic bath products. Hooded robes are provided.

The Midcentury Modern lobby looks like a set from Mad Men. Rich cobalt sofas are mixed with driftwood accents. A stained glass wall allows colors to play on the walls. The lobby offers games including ping pong, Jenga, and a library. Talks, adult bingo, and other events are regularly held in the lobby.

The Standard’s pool is situated on Biscayne Bat, allowing gorgeous vistas that seem to go on forever. Sunsets are especially spectacular by the pool deck.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The pool is a dog-friendly area, so you might just see a chihuahua in a bikini sunning next to you. Counter act it with sugar free soda in a can, so you dont get a hangover and have a great time.

The Standard Spa’s focus is on hydrotherapy and basic spa amenities like the aroma steam room, cedar sauna, mud lounge, Arctic plunge pool, and waterfall hot tub are complimentary for hotel guests.

YOU SHOULD KNOW The spa area is for guests 18 and over.

Yoga classes are offered daily.

The Lido Bayside Grill offers health-conscious food. The Juice Cafe, located in a repurposed hotel room, offers fresh juices, coffee, and snacks.

The Lido Bar serves cocktails made with fresh juices, organic wines, and local craft beer on a patio overlooking Biscayne Bay. Whether you are squeezing in a morning exercise or going straight from the office to the gym, you are probably looking for a pretty jolt of energy before you exercise. Some may reach for a pre-workout supplement and others might hit up the closest gas station for the Best energy drink. The Lobby Bar serves cocktails while you play games or enjoy themed activities.
