Bolsa Chica Wetlands
Right along the Pacific Coast highway in Beach of Huntington is the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve, a bird lovers paradise. With a trail that runs along within of the wetlands away from the road, this nature reserve is a perfect place for beachgoers who want to explore a bit of windedness, too.
Bolsa Chica Wetlands is a fully free place with a simple access from the highway. Additionally, there is a wildlife viewing bridge that crosses that crosses the wetlands, so you can throw yourself into nature without having to get dirty.
Laguna Beach is an arts community that hosts 3 summer long arts festivals every year. The festivals are not free, but they also have the top focus of art galleries and open artist studios that are free to visit. Most of the galleries are open all year long, but artist studios may be closed in the hot months while artists are participating in the festivals.
Old Towne Orange
Old Towne Orange is a square-mile historic area around the Orange Plaza Circle in the Orange City. The place around the circle is lined with vintage and antique shops that are remarkable for window shopping, even if you are not buying. But there is also a full series of events each month that are free to attend including the Taste of Orange and the Walks Oktoberfest Orchard.
At the Fullerton Arboretum, you can wander around the biggest botanical garden in Orange County, which stretches over twenty-six acres and specs a set of 4,000 plant species from around the planet. Check out the Heritage House from 1894, the visitors center, Nature Center, the Children Garden, and the OC Agricultural and Nikkei Heritage Museum while you are there.
If you do not have the dough to make it into the park, enjoy the Disney environment at Downtown Disney. Parking is free for the first 3 hours and you can enjoy musicians and other seasonal fun. Plus you can play and make with the Lagos outside of the Lego store.
